This NO RESERVE Auction is for a guitar body from a 1966 Fender Mustang.
The Positive... The paint is absolutely origional and is in overall beautiful condition.The Negative... There is a gouge out of the wood and some ink lines just above the neck pickup slot. This is completly concealable by a pick guard but never the less it is there. I don't believe the photos catch very well the fact that the paint job is a two tone red.Other than that the body appears nearly perfect and ready to make music again. Thanks For your interest. 1965 Fender Mustang Body
This original Body
was refinished in Black in the 70's. It weighs 4 Pounds 3 Ounces. The
original owner also routed the back so that it has a contour like the
ones made in '66 and later. He did a very good job and you can't tell
that it's not factory. The body has some general scratches and scuffs,
but no major issues. No extra holes or other modifications.
This part was removed
from a genuine American made 1965 Fender Mustang. The Serial Number was
L68125, The Neck was dated October 1965, The Pots dated to October 1965
and the Pickups Dated to November 1965. I may have more parts from this
guitar up for auction this week, so please check my other auctions. I
will be happy to combine shipping if you win more then one item, but I
can't quote the rates before the auctions are over. Local pickup is available
for any item.

Here's an oversized project body for anyone with the ambition to (re)finish it. It's a poplar Mustang style body routed for dual single coils and the control cavity. Please note that the pickup cavities have more space between them and will not fit a standard Mustang pickguard perfectly. (This body was eventually going to be routed for humbuckers.) The poplar under the paint is really nice looking. Check out the link below to see what lies beneath. This body was the victim of a paint job gone terribly wrong but a decent refinish would do wonders. The "finish" on it now has runs, bubbles and a large blemish on the face. It's got sort of a purple burst on it but was given a distressed finish revealing the blue and teal beneath. The neck pocket has not been routed. It needs a heavy sanding to get rid of the blemishes in the paint and the overwhelming amount of dings on the sides. Please consider this body a junker. Be aware when bidding that you will need to put a lot of work into this body to make it look decent. Besides the sanding and refinishing (and routing an appropriate neck pocket) you will also need to fabricate a pickguard (unless you route the body for humbuckers and then an HH Mustang guard should work). This auction is for the body only and does not include a neck, pickups or any hardware whatsoever.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This body is larger than a normal Mustang body!!! Though it's about 1-5/8" thick, the overall length is about 20" and the width across the butt is just over 13". Please keep this in mind as it means that standard Mustang parts will not fit this item.

It was going to be joined to a baritone neck but you can use any scale that you want. Because the body is oversized, genuine Mustang parts will not line up correctly. (For instance, the pickguard will fit the body but the pickup cavities will not line up with those on the guard. Also, the tailpiece will fit but it will not butt up against the bottom of a standard pickguard.) You will need to create a custom pickguard, preferably one that fits over the control cavity as I'm not sure if a standard shrome plate will fit. You will need to put a lot of work into this body including (but not limited to) painting it, routing a neck pocket, fabricating a pickguard, etc. No neck is included, nor are any pickups, parts, hardware, etc.
This body ships FREE via USPS Parcel Post in the continental United States. Please be advised that Parcel Post deliveries can take up to two weeks. While I generally ship the next day, transit time is out of my hands once the USPS takes possession of your package. Please remember that when leaving feedback. We ship only to the United States of America (additional shipping charges will apply to buyers in Alaska and Hawai'i) and generally make no exceptions. This is an original 1978 Fender Mustang body in the rare and desirable Mocha (Translucent Brown) finish. The body is made of ash, so it’s not light weight. It weighs 5 lbs. 12.1 oz. on my digital scale. This body will be correct for Mustangs from 1976 to 1980, but you can use it with any Mustang neck (or other necks of your choosing if your neck fits the pocket) and it will work. There are no cracks or repairs. The finish is original. There is a lot of buckle rash on the back of the body. Also, some nicks, dings and paint chips. I can’t get all of this to show in the pics, but it’s there. Normal stuff for a 32 year old body. The front of the body looks pretty good. Most of the wear shows on the back and edges. Original shielding and neck shim are included.
I will consider bidders from outside of USA with good feedback.
